Both the Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom have duties. |
Mother of the Bride |
| Your primary responsibility is helping the bride plan the wedding. |
| Set a wedding budget |
| Help the bride select a gown and the attendants attire |
| Assemble a guest list |
| Select your dress for the wedding. Let the mother of the groom know as soon as possible of your choice. |
| It is your duty to make sure that any out of town quests that you invite have accommodations. |
| You should stand in the first position in the receiving line. |
| There are so many details to take care of, so you may want to consider asking a good friend or even hiring a wedding co-ordinator to help out. |
Mother of the Groom |
| Introduction to the mother of the bride. |
| Guest list. Provide this to the bride as soon as possible. Make sure the addresses are complete. |
| Select your dress after the brides mother has supplied you with the information of her selection. The color does not have to match, but the style should be similar. (Yours should be long if she has chosen long) |
| Accommodations for your invited out of town guests. |
| The rehearsal dinner. This is all yours. |
| Receiving line. Your place in the receiving line is in the third position right after the Brides Father. (Receiving line placements can be seen in the wedding tips.) |
