Children in the Wedding

To Breannas.com main page

Go through a wedding rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, a different routine Saturday morning, dressing in new clothes and shoes, get a hairstyle, pre-ceremony pictures, carry a basket and drop petals, and then more pictures.  And this is just your 5 year old flower girl.
Try to have a separate dressing area with snacks and games or videos for the small ones in the wedding.
Let the kids break in their new shoes before the wedding.
Make sure there is ample spacing of the children going down the aisle before you.  Everybody ahead of you should be at their place at the altar before you start down the aisle.  All attention should be on you and not the children.
Flower girl ages range from 4 to 6;   Junior bridesmaides 10 to 13.
Parents of children in the wedding party should be ready to remove them in the case they become unmanageable.
Children in weddings are completely unpredictable.   They can either make or break a perfectly gorgeous wedding.  If you choose to have children, be prepared for just about anything.
It is perfectly OK to not have children in your wedding if you choose not to.  There are many reasons not to and the first and utmost is just because you choose not to.  You want your special day to go as perfect as can be and you don't want unexpected antics to distract.  Other reasons might include there are too many children in your family to choose from without offending anyone.  Another might be because you are having an evening wedding, or perhaps you do not know the child or his/her parents well.
Children should be as well rested as possible and encouraged to use the potty before the ceremony.
If you put a toy or favor in the flower basket for the child, make sure it cannot make any noise!
Ask your caterer if they can provide a children's menu.
Ask your DJ to play a few popular hits for the youngsters.  Take requests from the kids.
